Title Variants, "First Available" and "Random Available"

Modified on Mon, 01 Jun 2020 at 09:28 PM

Valigara supports storing multiple titles per product. The Title Variants represent fields, which can store different product titles for the sales channels.

Use Title Variants for:

  • Storing holiday-specific titles (like "Christmas Gift earrings", "Valentines Love Pendant" )
  • A/B testing different product titles
  • Preparing titles in the off-season and quickly uploading them once relevant
  • With scheduled revise, to make sure the Title appears on the channel at the right time

Example: set the Christmas-related titles in "Title 3" and Valentines-related values in "Title 4" and use scheduled revise with "Title 4" to automatically replace listings' title on January the 2nd, after the Christmas season is over.

Use Title Variants for posting/revising

To define, which Variant will be used during the operation, on Post / Revise screen, select an Title Variant in the Title Field drop-down.

The Mass Post / Revise pages allow selecting Title field as "First available", "Random Available" or a custom Title Variant. Valigara identifies the Available Titles for each product, and uses them according to the Title settings.

Here is how Title Variant is selected in the listing in each cases:

  • "First available" option selects the first Title Variant, currently not in use in any listing on the marketplace. It's similar to having higher priority for Variants with lower number. (Variant 1 has highest priority, then Variant 2, 3 etc)

Example:

- Product has 4 title variants defined in the Product -> Commercial -> eBay title

- Product is currently active on eBay in 2 different stores with Variant 1, and Variant 4. Variant 2 and 3 are not in use.

- On post -> First Available, Variant 2 is selected because

  • "Random available" option selects a random Title Variant, currently not in use in any listing on the marketplace. This is useful for A/B testing of titles, or regular scheduled updates of listings on the channels.

Example:

- Product has 4 title variants defined in the Product -> Commercial -> eBay title

- Product is currently active on eBay in 2 different stores with Variant 1, and Variant 4. Variant 2 and 3 are not in use.

- On post -> First Available, Variant 2 or 3 is selected randomly

  • Custom Title Variant option - Title Variant, specifically selected by user is used for posting / revising (f.i. eBay title Valentines Day, eBay title Christmas, etc.)

Example:

- Product has 4 title variants defined in the Product -> Commercial -> eBay title including Valentines Day variant and Christmas Title variant

- Product is currently active on eBay with Christmas Title variant

-  use the Valentines Day variant to revise the listing right after Christmas

Managing Title Variants

Add Title Variant:

  • Go to In the Product Edit page -> Commercial tab
  • Go to eBay/Etsy/Amazon set
  • Under Title field click "Add Variant"
  • New field is created (e.g. eBay.com Title(2) )

The new Title field becomes available for System Actions like Copy Data and Title Generators

To rename the Variant field and make it more informative (f.i. change it to eBay Christmas title, eBay Mother Day Title etc), use the Additional Fields interface.

Remove Title Variant:

  • Click "Remove Variant" on the relevant title field
  • The last Title Variant is deleted.
    • F.i. if there are Amazon Title (2), there are Amazon Title (3), there are Amazon Title (4) , the Amazon Title (4) is deleted.

IMPORTANT: The Title Variant is deleted from ALL PRODUCTS IN THE SYSTEM! Make sure to backup your data before removing the Variant.
