Etsy - Advanced guide

Following automation and optimization tools allow you to improve your performance on Etsy.


1. Improve data


  • Add multiple Title Variants 

    • prepare different titles for specific seasons, occasions (f.i. to include Christmas Gift, Valentines Love)

    • use Title Variants for a/b testing

    • create rotation between titles with scheduled revises, to keep your listings fresh

    • Use Random Available or First Available titles

  • Images
    • add promotional (seasonable box) and certificate images to products to improve conversion
    • Set the desired position for the promotional (box) and certificate images
    • shuffle / reorder images to find out the best placement
    • disable irrelevant/non-selling images for that sales channel 
    • Define a watermark individually for the Etsy account. To protect the brand and images, being an important part of your sales process.

  • Update/organize Product Tags
    • Use Sets to combine the relevant tags together (allows quickly finding relevant tags)
    • Use Title Generators to create Etsy Tags 

  • Update/organize Product Materials
    • Use Sets to combine the relevant materials together


2. Optimize


  • Use Optimization tools
    • use the "Kill Unsold Items" algorithm to make sure only the relevant items stay online
      • As you improve your Etsy performance, shorten the KUI time to make it more demanding
    • Set the "Block duplicated posts" and "Block duplicate titles" rules
    • enable "Deactivate listings in place of delete" to allow restoring listings if they get deleted by accident
    • Set the Posting Tolerance to make sure your items go online in the right timing
    • Use Price Improvements algorithm for better psychological pricing

  • Use Scheduled revise as an optimization technique
    • use scheduled revise operations to keep your listings fresh
    • revise descriptions, prices or any other product information
    • use "Repeat action" for placing recurring auctions

  • Use Recurring listing automation to improve visibility of the products on Etsy


3. Analyze

  • Check Dashboard notifications for recommendations on available performance improvements
  • Check Statistics to identify best sellers and low performance items
    • Use the Product views / Sold Products / Income and other views to analyze and compare to other channels
    • Use Etsy Listings Performance to check last viewed items, conversion rates and other listings info

  • Use the "Etsy Activity log"page
    • see an overview of the complete history of your actions on Etsy

    • See full history of the Listing

    • Analyze all actions with different operation statuses: Success, Warnings, Errors

  • Use the "Etsy Listings" page to see the current status of your Etsy listings
    • sort by "Title length" to view the missing opportunities
    • sort by "Status" to see ended listings > "Schedule renew"
    • lock the most sensitive/valuable listings, to avoid accidental changes

4. Do More


  • Use Triggered (automatic) emails 
    • to improve the customer service
    • to receive more reviews
    • for after-sale marketing 
    • communicate better with your suppliers and inside the company
  • Improve work processes 
    • Print Packing Slips, Shipment Documents and other
    • Schedule data exports for the accounting/tax/inventory departments
