eBay allow sellers to use Private listings so buyers remain anonymous. Buyer's usernames are not displayed to other buyers viewing the private listing, but only displayed to the seller after listing ends. Typically used for high-priced or gift oriented items, so purchase information remains confidential.
Post/Revise Private listing
- When posting to eBay, check "Private" to create a Private listing
- When revising eBay listing(s):
- Uncheck "Keep unchanged"
- Check / uncheck the Private checkbox to set listing(s) as private / non-private
Default Setting
To create listings as Private by default:
- go to Channels -> eBay Settings
- click Edit
next to the relevant account name - check Default Private value to use Private listings by default
- applies to all eBay listings when enabled, unless manually overridden on mass post/revise
